CHERYL STEWART

In a somewhat irrational action an artist that refuses to accept an empirically verifiable reality.  An intellectual curious individual, anti-generalist, race and gender- activist, with work that is both political and personal, and that often undermines traditional concepts. Born in the Netherlands  into an affluent family of four sisters and parents with roots in England and Scotland.

Having lived several years in Grasse, Côte d'Azur earned a French Fluency Degree at the Institut Superieur de Langues in Cannes. Tutored in art by Sonia Anca, Fondatrice of 'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Grasse.

In the material world studied Tourism Management  and followed three Years Bachelor in Education English /Cambridge Proficiency. The Bachelor Minor in 2019 was achieved in Art and Cultural Studies with a thesis focus on Howl by Allen Ginsberg and the Beat Generation in the Sixties. An utmost inspiration on how literary artists challenged traditional ideas which planted a seed to renew opposition towards economic materialism and sexual repression nearly 60 years later.  In 2015 followed lessons in the Orientation Year of the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam.

With a passion for language, art, culture and people: a main working history in the travel industry, translation and ' stream of conciousness writing' (unpublished poetry Maanmeisje 1999 - Stil in Mij 2006). Also silent member of the Turn Club Amsterdam; an organization that bridges the gap between art, independent professionals, organizations and social issues.
